new Unknown Mortal Orchestra is really rad, that’s worth hearing

I had that queued up right behind the Beach Fossils album and am listening to that now actually.

I remember the Daniel Johnston cover on this being really good. Did you know B.Cox is on this?

Yeah! I noticed in the liner notes that he plays on a good portion (and wrote some) of this. I find it interesting because his contributions are pretty reminiscent of his actual work.

I remember hearing it was like a tribute to giallo films or something? I like Dario Argento and I like Broadcast, so this should be cool.

I didn’t even know what giallo films were (I’m such a film novice), so shout-out to wikipedia for the explanation. Now that I’m slightly more knowledgeable, it seems even more interesting than before.

Very nice! Do let me know how that goes and share anything from it if you get pictures or video or something.

Fan account? Wuh?

It says invite-only beta, but I assumed it was more like “invite-only” beta.

check this list I made: rateyourmusic.com/list/…

Well out of this list I already have listened to or at least heard: SAWv2, Weekend EP (this is my favorite ambient work), Basinski, Emeralds, Endless Summer, Grouper, and Stars of the Lid. I’ll try to make a point to listen to some of these other albums though.

Music for Airports is the first example that comes to mind.

I’ll check this out. I’ve wanted to hear some of Eno’s material so that works out well.

It all depends on the ambient for me. Some stuff fits daytime listening, some simply doesn’t.

I’ve yet to find ambient that feels okay to listen to in the daytime, but then again I really don’t listen to much ambient to begin with.

Idk, listening to at least the first 7 songs during the day just doesn’t feel right to me.

I think that makes sense! That’s definitely the more ambient and less poppy side of the album and I never listen to ambient in the day (with today being an exception).

I can only listen to that album when it’s dark out. But any time I do, it’s always great.

Well it certainly fits the night (as does most of the group’s music I’d say). Although I’ve personally never thought of it as a night album, I always find it interesting how an album can be viewed differently between two people.
